Day 3 - Solo sailing in Modoc, SC

I went out sailing because the forecast indicated winds at 10 mph with gusts up to 20 mph. While I was out on the water, I realized this wasn't the case and the winds were much at all. At the beginning, there wasn't much of any gusts or anything but after about an hour the winds did pick up a bit and I was able to practice my sailing skills and enjoy some speed. From the tracking map below you can see i didn't go very far from the dock. I did not have my motor with me so I didn't want to get to far in case the winds died down. Some rain was moving in to the region so I figured there might be some good winds but that wasn't the case. As I was heading back to the dock, the winds did pick up a bit so I kind of extended my trip a little and went in circles basically to get a bit more wind time.

This was also the first time i had a headband GoPro holder for my Hero4 camera so i got to test it out a bit and you can see the results of one of the clips below. This is when I was planning on heading back to the dock and there was gusts of wind that took me off guard. I felt like I was heading the dock a bit too quickly so I veered off, pulled the sail in, and mainly peddle to the dock to prevent injury or damaged to the kayak. Overall, it was a bit dreary day but still a lot of fun once the wind picked up a bit.

Here is a pic of the kayak docked at the end of the trip. I initially had planned to visit a different boat ramp but ended up here accidently by seeing a sign on the road for Modoc Boat Ramp that I had seen online before. I decided since I was already in the area, I might as well visit the boat ramp and I am glad I did. It gives me access to an area a bit away from the dam area with some open waters that are not far away from the boat ramp.
